Ive decided your all a bad influence on me! I got a solomun grundy rose kit for swmbo at christmas and thought id join here to learn.

Now that the rose has been completed and is fantastic! The bug has bit me......hard!

Ive just started a WOW and now I find myself with 12 demijohns.... with an intent to make a LOT more wine.

And now ive just found myself collecting 40 flip top bottles from a member on here to start my first batch of cider next week.

........Im also itching to get an ale brew kit on the go but im physically having to restrain myself for the time being.

Hoping to have a few bbq's in spring so it would be good to have a variety for my guests wouldnt it? ;)

Anyway cheers for all the advice so far!

bbq's you say.... You should have a look in to sausage making and hot smoking large slabs of meat on your kettle BBQ....

Both of which are delicious on sourdough rolls - you should try that too...

...and if you and up with some left over rolls, how about a nice homemade stilton to go on them?

Quick, run while you still can... actually probably already too late for that

I've washed and sanitised 70 bottles today.
It's almost enough to put you off!
Almost...
Advice: rinse bottles as soon as emptied. Sanitise within 48 hours. Don't let a huge queue build up

........you know youve gone past that point when the cleaning supplies get relegated to upstairs and you end up with a brew cubbord under the stairs!!!

Cheers ive been washing bottles as soon as I get them. I dont tend to sanitise though as I dont know when they are next going to be used. I tend to sanitise just before I use them. Is that ok?

Oh, yeh, but you really want them dry for storage, or stuff gets in and tries to grow. At least plug the top with something.
I have a load of those plastic reseal caps, so wash, sanitise (wait until there's enough to be worth it, usually Monday after the weekend), cap, store.
I still run sanitiser through them again before use, coz I'm paranoid.

Apparently ive been told that the more I drink the less I will mind!

Wow that cheese and bread looks delicious!!!!

The cheese has got another 4-5 weeks before I will think about cutting into one. Very easy to make, but hard to mature

You need to stop using DJ's and get 25lt fermenters for wine. You can make 25lt of wow for the same amount of work it takes to make 5lt. I generally have 4 on the go with wine and beer in. Although with xmas just gone my stocks have been depleted and only have 4 fermenters on the go and none in storage. Must get another 100lt on the asap.

I just started making wine from bits from the allotment, now I have about 50+ bottles and it's just me that drinks it. Then I started on the beer kits which I can't brew quick enough, you read reviews on here and the beer sound nice so you make them. Took over the porch/spare cupboard and tops of cupboards, wife keeps complaint about bottles / barrels / in every room. So I don't these lot are a bad influence just have to stop reading posts to them messing with out weak minds.

......erm yeah..... I also have three 25l and 1 10l buckets! Planning on doing a 40 pint cider in one and ale in the other. The demis are just to try wow recipies first and to age the finished product (have two filled with half of the solomon grundy rose) however I only have 40 bottles so the cider will go in them and ill get a plastic barrel for the beer :)
