Made (or should I say tried to make) Slants last night for the first time - Pressure cooked for 15mins - and left overnight in the cooker to cool.

Opened up this morning to find melted sample tubes. Some of the them are still usabel.

Wondering if I needed to pressure cook them in the first place as I'd sterlised the tubes and the wort had been boiled?

Can someone also point me in the right direction for tougher tubes?

I got some polypropylene vials suitable for autoclaving, they were a present but I think just came from ebay. I believe the polystyrene ones can melt in pressure cooker heat. EDIT: I asked where they came from and I think they were these

I'm very new to slants myself, but as I understand it sterilizing them with such steam/heat is more effective than most sanitisers, and doing it after (part) filling the tube deals with nasties that may have crept in during the filling/preparation.

Cheers
