How Soon can you tell if your brew isnt working and what can be done if anything?

I am no expert - but perhaps Canesten cream, at 1tsp per gallon and stir gently.

Have you checked the temperature of your brew?

If you don't get any sign of yeast action after 24-48 hours either the yeast was duff (poorly stored before you got it) or you may have added it when the brew was too warm??

Either way, if there's no sign of yeast action you can still add so fresh yeast - assuming you have some! I'm told S04 is a very good brewing yeast :wha:
