Nice idea - drink beer and play games at the same time. Unfortunately computer games send me to sleep in minutes but I'm sure there must be other gamers on here.

Well short version is - a group of us meeting up in The Crown Inn in Stockport (near to the station) on the 29th for a social event. We did it last year about the same time of year and it was a great night. They have 14 real ales on tap :shock: :clap: :thumb:

i brew my own beer and play dungeons and dragons. i would find it hard to avoid the tag of nerd. we in my D&D team (been going for almost 10 years) refer to each other as geeks.

seriously though, dude, dont let your 8yrold play gta.., i mean, grand theft auto 4. :pray: it is an 18 for good reason

Sorry for refering to you all as nerds, it shows you how much I know about gaming . After asking him, he doesn't play GTA4, but earlier versions of it.

I do understand the amount of violence, bad language etc, etc that there are in todays games but I have the opinion that you can't wrap your children up in cotton wool 24 hours a day. Even though he does play a certain amount of 18+ games ( and I doubt he is not on his own ) I can honestly say that it does not have an adverse effect on him.

My PC is in the lounge for this reason. I can always see what internet sites he is on and if I found a site was not appropriate it would be turned off straight away.

I am lucky that both my children do very very well at school, never have any problems with homework and want to do it as soon as they come home.

If ( and this is a big if ) I found that games were affecting him, his attitude and language were changing I would be the first person to take a very large sledgehammer to them in front of him.

But usually I just watch the bairns who are so much better

I brew when they play. unless the pals bring their Xboxes and have a party. three Xboxes on a home wired network is quite fun, only thing is they don't make allowances for the more mature player :? :lol:
