This type of starter kit is very popular with new brewers! Will certainly stand you in good stead for a while!

Great starter kit to get you into brewing,...

Barrels work fine too (if you lightly vaseline the tap washer and cap washer) for ales... but doesnt let you gas up lagers to a good level of fizz

Notice theres a few things in the kits i have, I've got a Wine fermenting bucket, that i could use for the beer, also have the spoon, Syphon tube, and hydrometer and jar.
Think i will go for a king keg, which appears to be the best or is it? and a Woodford Wherry beer kit, and Brewing sugar.

You don't need brewing sugar with the Wherry as it is a two can kit. It comes with all the fermentables you need.

Yes - I was bought that kit for my birthday which got me into home brewing - works well and of course the Wherry kit is well regarded.
You don't need brewers sugar with the 2 can wherry kit but you may want to add 500g beer enhancer - I do that and then brew it full length (23 litres).

i thought beer enhancer was a replacement for sugar, and you don't need sugar for the wherry kit.
so what would the enhancer do?

That kit looks a good deal, the keg with the CO2 injector is a good few quid, add in the kit, the spoon and everything else and it would cost you more than the £70 it's advertised at to collect it all :)

Nothing wrong with value kegs, although the CO2 cost is a bit higher than for something using S30 cylinders, but if that bothers you get cornies and use pub gas for absolute penny saving :)

You can add sugar to any kit (or AG recipe) to increase the ABV but at the risk of thinning out the beer. Beer enhancer is usually half sugar and half malt so it increases the strength without affecting the flavour so much.
