I'm pondering an adventurous brew or two, but I'm concerned that chilli would affect the yeast.
Chillis I have in mind are quite potent (up to 500000 scovilles. jalapenos are 5000 by comparison) so is there a chance it'd kill or hinder the yeast?

No problems with chilli's before the boil or after the boil.
bewarned it's only a very tiny amount you'll need using Jolkia or Ghosts which looks like you are!

This matured to be Very strong taste of the chiili's Next time if I ever brew it, I'd half the chilli's, they are just shop brought and very tame to eat for me, but heating them draws out the Capsicum which makes it hotter!

I've had a chilli wine on the go for a couple of weeks, plenty of yeast action happening!

Its 'hot chocolate' habaneros I was thinking of. I think the jolokias are over a million scovilles!

I used Jolkia in a Ginger Beer - first attempt was lovely, 2nd slightly stronger one verges on undrinkable..

I think you've just given me an idea to make my fortune - Scotch Bonnet Whisky.

I have a bottle of chilli whisky. Got given it a while ago. No longer available I think. Was made by bells so not exactly premium stuff but its actually no too bad. Chilli is quite mild, but adds a distinct flavour as well as a little heat.
Red devil I think it was called?

I once bought a bottle of mexican beer from the corner shop as a student that had a chilli in it. I thought it looked cool. Then I tasted it and thought 'urghh, it tastes of chilli  ' I should have expected that really but was young and impressionable. :D
