Made one yesterday. First go. Tutored via online video sites! Used a paint tin to wrap 10m of 10mm Wickes copper then unravelled enough to make an in and out feed then soldered a 10mm to 15mm copper reducer in order to attach a hose to each end and secured with one of those clips that you tighten with a screwdriver. You can fix any kinks in the coil with a squeeze of some pliers.

Most difficult bit was soldering the reducers to the copper coil. I'm no engineer so getting a tidy finish was tricky.

Agree with your sentiments about making your own. Mine probably cost more than one you can buy online and it won't win any prizes but it was good fun making it.
