Yea, get yourself down to a plumbing merchant and ask for the pipe, B&Q have insane prices.

Immerse the brew in liquid oxygen, that will chill most things down pretty quickly :-D

10m of 10mm is plenty, depending on the size of your pot obviously. I am in the process of making one to fit a pot of 45cm x 45cm - I'll let you know how much I use but I suspect a fair bit more than 10m. I have just bought a pipe bending tool (£10 from my local Aladdins cave plumbing merchant) and I can get a 180° bend over about a 5cm length. It is so good I am going to start experimenting with hop and mashtun strainers - no more soldered joints, just well-formed piping!

I am looking at making a wort chiller, my question is this is 10 metres of 10 mm copper enough and does anyone know of a better price than B&Q £22?

I bought Manse's Wort Chiller, I could done it myself but Manse sourced the copper tube and bent it to shape. If you phone a few local suppliers and get prices I think you'll find things a lot cheaper than online prices from B&Q. He also put some connections but they weren't needed. I'll let him put his own picture up but I'm very happy. I used it last week and it took 20 minutes to get from boiling to 20 degrees.

Good to see it in action! Will the other bend not hook over the edge of your boiler? I think it might be better just in case the hose leaks and water gets in the beer. If it needs a bit of reshaping, let me know.

It's fine, I moved the chiller up and down when I was using it so it hanging over didn't matter. As I said, aethetics don't matter, it's only used to carry away heat.

A few I noticed:

One end of the pipe got very hot, wear gloves.

It did leak but when I was using it, it was easy to tighten as everything was hot. There are no leaks now.

Remove the hops bag, I pushed it onto my boiling element and cinged the bag and left a mark on my element.

All in I'm very happy. I flooded my kitchen (don't tell my wife) on my previous brew cooling in my sink. It saves a helluva lot of cooling time.
