Anybody tried spent grains in a wormery?

What with the council tip closed I have a growing stock of spent grain.

Don't have a compost heap, no real place for one.

That is a problem. I used to chuck mine on the compost or just on the earth and it smells a bit unpleasant. Don't know about a wormery. I think If I had limited space, I'd dig a hole and chuck it in and cover it with a layer of earth. It'll be fine later when it's rotted down a bit.
Do you know anyone with chickens? I now give my spent grain to the neighbour and get an irregular supply of eggs.

My understanding is that you unless have the worms to start a wormery it takes sometime for the colony to get going. Red worms are the sort you need not ordinary earth worms.
I moved my bin type composter about four years ago and it took about two years for it to get re-established with a healthy population of red worms. But with the mild winter we had this year it is now teeming with not only with mature worms but also the tiny threads of newly hatched worms. And they get all my spent grain
