With only that week of really cold weather I haven't used as much wood as planned. Should be OK for next year.

There’s nothing like a proper fire, I never realised it myself until we got one last year. Perfect timing, the heating is hardly on.

That's a healthy amount of wood in store at this time of year. I like to have 2 years worth in stock but mine's not photogenically laid out like yours.

My log store but have the poles/rounds seasoning in the car port.

Changed the fire bricks on my old Rayburn today, not bad service since 1960's !
Had the chimney repointed and a new flue liner fitted a couple of months ago,
both also well overdue, so looking forward to getting it going after a couple of cold starts this week.

Ours went on this week when the night dipped to 3 degrees.

There were a few evenings early this month where I had to open the windows up a lot to get the house cold enough to justify lighting the fire
