I have an old tea urn that leaks. I am looking to use the element and install it into my spare Igloo cooler and I am looking for some help/advice on wiring it in.

Can I simply wire the element to my TC10?

There did seem to be quite alot happening under the water urn but I'm hoping it will not be required...

I can post more pictures if it isn't as simple as I am hoping.

First off, I wouldn't install that element in a plastic cooler. They can get very hot and it will most likely do harm.

Secondly, I suspect the element is too powerful for the TC-10 to handle. I suspect the element is 2.7 or 3kW and the TC-10 can only handle 2.4kW, and I certainly wouldn't run it at its maximum.

Could I install a metal layer on the bottom to protect the plastic?

Could I wire up the thermostat from the urn instead of running through the TC-10?

It is for my HLT so I won't require temps over 85 degrees.
