When I smoked (neigh on 5 year ago now) I used to get hangovers from hell, these days I barely notice them and can drink twice as much.

I'd have to agree here. Since quitting 2 years ago my hangovers seemed easier.

I recently had a night out and had a few cigars (celebratory)... God, did I feel rough next day.

nevermind daily limits, that's the same as a half bottle of vodka

I used to be able to drinkn a half bottle of vodka before going to the pub and getting through 8 pints!! then go to work the next day and shake it off by lunchtime with the help of a fry up and coca cola...

I quit smoking 4 years ago and find that I can drink more before getting tipsy/drunk.

I've only ever had one really bad hangover and that was because a member of the family bought me a crate of Bishops Finger......never drunk it since

The problem with the wine is that it goes down far too easily! Portion control is now in place to prevent reoccurrences. Recent brews have been an 8% apple and strawberry wine, which is like a very light rose when chilled, and a 15% blueberry, which isn't. It's rocket fuel, and should come with a Danger notice. It's usually enjoyed with friends over a BBQ at the weekends.
