I am thinking of buying a Fancy wine Box from here https://www.balliihoo.co.uk/registe...alliihoo.co.uk/storing-dispensing-c-3_72.html
Are they any good and how long can you keep the wine in them? also once you start drinking the wine how long would it be OK before it goes off?.I know that when you put the wine in the bag you squeeze all the air out like you do with a water bottle but do you have to do this once you start drinking it ?

I bought a couple of 10 litre vinotainers and find them excellent, just finished one which had a merlot in it drawing off a caraffe whenever needed and I've been drinking it since about August and tastes better than the same batch which got bottled. However I keep it in the garage where it's cool then bring caraffe inside to reach room temperature, so that might extend the life somewhat.
Looks like your link shows a fancy box for the inner bag whereas I just use the plain cardboard boxes shown further down the page but don't see why they wouldn't work.

Cannot help with the bags but can certainly vouch for Balliihoo. Excellent customer service, reasonable prices, no quibble exchange / refund policy etc etc. Postage, if under £60 is also sensible depending on weight.

I agree with you on that 100%:thumb:

When you bag the wine, scrunch the bag so the wine is at the brim of the opening when you insert the tap, then very little air is left in the bag. You could also add a little preservative, i add approx 1/3 rd crushed campden tablet to each 5 litre bag. I have stored for a year or more with no problems. I looked at those fancy wine bag containers but they seemed a little short to get a glass under, nice designs though. I prefer the Fiduz version but it is somewhat more pricey.

This barrel is a cheaper option and isnt bad as long as you sort out the sharp edges

anything is better than a cardboard box that's for sure......

I think 5 litre is a bit big for for me was going to get a 3 litre one. Make 5 litre put 3 in the dispenser and 2 litre in bottles. Do not know if I said but once you start using the wine dispenser How long does the wine stay still drinkable a week 2 weeks or longer? and how much of a Camden tablet should I put in for 3 litres?. Engineer what sort of container have you got your wine in I must admit I do like the wooden one on Amozon. And I agree on the cardboard box idea :nono:

Once you start drinking from the bag it will stay drinkable for months as long as no further air gets in there. I use as little campden as possible, so for 3 litres i would probably just use the same 1/3 rd crushed tablet. I bought the wooden one on amazon, it looks good but as it says in the review be prepared to get the sandpaper out as mine came with sharp edges which is a bit worrying given the bag is plastic. One other thing they state the barrel is 5 litre capacity, not so, more like 4 in my view i had to remove a litre from a 5 litre bag to get it to close.
With 3 in the dispenser it will be fine.

I keep HTBOs' wine in a corny keg. Purge the keg with co2 the keep just enough pressure to push the wine through a party tap. The co2 pressure is so low none is dissolved, you could rack this up of course of you want a slightly aerated blush for instance.

This, so she says, keeps wine better than any bag does and it's easy to look after.

That wooden barrel thingy on amazon looks like it was made by a child. I'm sure coopers everywhere would despair if they saw that!
