So my first AG order came with a 40g pack of Columbus which did not appear on the method.

I call the supplier and asked about it, the reply was throw it in with the dry hop, it won’t make much difference.

It sort of begs the question ‘why add 40 g of anything to anything’.

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody has an opinion on this, I don’t want to mess my first AG now that I have got this far.

Columbus - Hopslist depends on the recipe you are following, but I'd say for the sort of beers I brew that would be a lovely dry hop,and will certainly add to the aroma.

On the flipside - I agree better to stick to a known recipe. At worst you can just stick it in the freezer for another day.

But if it was me I'd throw it in about 3 days before you plan to keg/bottle. Can you cold crash?

I’m not sure if I can cold crash yet. I have just set up the cooling pump on the conical fermenter.

The method says to drop to 14c and do the dry hop, for a maximum of 72 hours.
