I happen to have one kit yeast spare so I will just double it up anyway ! May rehydrate as not tried it before and see if I can tell the difference! Thanks again!
35 to 40c and just tap water. No sugar, no malt extract - and get it into the wort after 15 minutes to half an hour.

I did this kit with two jars of unhopped malt extract from Holland and Barrett, some dark brown sugar, and a tin of black treacle, then added a pot of cold-steeped coffee before bottling. It came out about 6.6% and took an age to condition, but it's now a really nice pint!

Is the holland and barrett malt extract like the equivelant to a 500g Medium DME ??

I love this kit. I use Molasses sugar from asda to make it and for priming. Thats enough treacle flavour I feel.

A little late for an answer, however 650g DME is equivalent to about 750g LME.
So one 454g jar H&B LME is equivalent to about 400g DME.
However H&B also sell larger jars of LME under the Potters brand name but it is slightly darker than their stuff as I recall, having used it for brewing in the past. And one 650g jar Potters LME is about 520g DME

Thanks terrym will get some LME then as seems to work out cheaper than DME. Also prefer the LME as it looks so full of goodness !!

And so it begins! Went with kit can 500g extra dark dme , 150g molasses, 2 teaspoons treacle , 600g golden syrup , 20g fuggles hop tea and 4 shots of strong coffee . Brewed short to 30 pints. S.G reading 1.062. Looks like im in for a strong one ! Oh what a shame ! Now tucked away nicely in the man fridge !

Just done a gravity test and a taste test and so far its already tasting banging! As good as owt in the pub and way better than guiness hahaha . Gone from 1.062 down to 1.020 so far . Not sure its gonna go any lower due to none fermentables but will find out saturday !

Now I wish I'd done something like this :P, I just used the brewing sugar :( How boring...

Mine's ready to keg now... Could I put some coffee in and use treacle for the conditioning??? Or does it need to be a normal sugar?

Might add 20-30g of cacoa nibs to each mini keg for fun

Yes to all of the above but dont over do it. And mind you dont overcarb i did that with brown sugar and all 5 bottles that i primed wer gushers

How much treacle would you use in 5L MK? Do I just look at the carbs of which sugars to make up 18g worth? Don’t want to overdo it and burst my new purchases.

If it was me i would substitute it for the amount of sugar you would put in per liter. E.g 1 flat teaspoon per liter for a stout . That way you can be sure not to overdo it as you dont get more sugary than pure sugar !! Probably too late of reply now though !

Got it bottled today ! Hurrah . Tasting superb! Now to play the old waiting game !!

My treacle stout is due for bottling next weekend. It's pretty much bottomed out at 1.010 (5.7%) and tastes lurvely straight from the FV.

Treacle stout today. Used a slight variation of a Coopers recipe and one that terrym mentioned in a Wilko stout thread.

1 Coopers Stout tin
1kg DSM
425kg dextrose
175g treacle
Coopers kit yeast
Muntons Gold yeast
OG 1.054
