how sweet is it ? and is it just like the newcastle brown ale you can buy in pubs ?
sorry if these are stupid questions but im new to this :D

i like newcastle brown ale that you can buy in pubs or super markets but wasnt sure how sweet it was , i was in wilkos earlier and didnt buy it because it said sweet newkie ale

I bought 1 of these yesterday, only problem met a few guys from work on the way home.Bad Mistake, wife says I came home about half 8 last night mumbling something about loosing the yeast but proceeded take make up the kit.Added 50 grams of some hops out of the freezer and added some yeast that was in the fridge, turned out to be lager yeast. But it's sat in the downstairs toilet and its bubbling away.

I've made this one. Its alright but its darker than Newki brown and as it says, sweeter. It's also a bit watery when made to instructions so it ideally needs to be brewed short, I reckon 20 literes or so, if I was to do it again. It will certainly be an interesting lager!

i think i will give it a miss then im not a fan of things being sweet , ok guys cheers for your replies

It might be different again with those hops and a different yeast may eat more of the sugars up than the standard kit yeast, resulting in a dryer finish. The hop bitterness might also balance the sweetness. Save it as an experiment. That way if its drinkable, you've not lost out.
