Ive started drinking my AG#19 Munich lager but it has no hop taste at all. When i say no hop taste at all i really mean AT ALL. Its as if i didnt add the hops to the brew.

This is what i used...
2.784kg Munich
398g Caramunich
398g Flaked maize
750g Demerara sugar

Full Boil hops
25g Hallertau
25g Saaz
25g Northern brewer

Last 20 mins
20g Hallertau
20g Saaz

S23 lager yeast.

Could the Demerara sugar have neutralised the hops? As all my other lagers are fine but i used glucose in them.
I will force myself to drink this batch as it still gets me ****** but its totally hoplessly bland.
Any ideas?

Thats a shame MA :( sorry can't answer why that might happen :wha:

Im no expert :nono: far from it, but it may be that a low hop utalisation is to blame i.e. the amount of hop flavour/bitterness we can extract during the boil. I have read that under normal conditions within most homebrew setups & indeed professional breweries hop utalisation can be very low :( as little as 25% which is normally fine for our requirements & taken into concideration in most recipes ):thumb: but there are a huge amount of variables that can effect utalisation, i.e the % AA & how old the hops are & the way they have been stored, the OG the length of boil, the ingredients used, even (Im told) the boiler geomatry whatever that means :wha again I reiterate Im no expert:wha: :wha: but who knows :wha:
