I honestly enjoy the process, the end product I usually tweak for the stronger flavour that I enjoy and never find in bottled / canned brews unless I go over the top on alcohol content; and my local's not very local... even if it were, I can't afford to drink there as often as I enjoy a beer at home! My kids bought me the first kit just as a bit of fun, don't think they realised that two years later I'd have turned half the utility room into the Grumpy Jack Brewery...

well said jack. I have to agree its the process its a chilled out yet exiting day and beer is silly money in pubs £3 a pint most places now .

I have been brewing Beer and making wine for more than 30 years.
with over 40 gallons of wine maturing and 3 five gallon barrels of kit Beer on the go,
the joy of making a gallon of wine for about £2.00 it makes me so :D
it's the best hobby you will ever do,and you get a very nice and cheap :drink:
that's why i make my own :thumb:

i loved doing it as a hobby and proving to my mates that you could do better beer than they sell in the pubs

now i sell better beer to the pubs   :drink:

I enjoy good ale ( as well as good food, but don't we all?) and since Finland is generally speaking a lager country, a decent pint doesn't come cheap. Whether you choose imports or domestic ales by smaller breweries, it gets pricey. Furthermore, I am, as some of my friends affectionately put it, something of a sad vegan t**t and since animal products are used in many a good beer, I can either do without or learn to make things that may not be as good but at least close to them. I choose the latter option.
