Well, I've tried a lot of options so far, and they all make delicious beer, so I cannot decide what is best haha. I do agree though, this is what makes brewing such a great hobby, there are so many ways to do things, but it's pretty forgiving.

I think the US-05 is more difficult to clear too, I always give everything a week in secondary, then crash cool for three or four days after, and have then found that the US-05 has dropped, although I have never used any type of finings. Even when bottled its a bugger, because the slightest knock and it clouds the bottle up, doesnt travel to parties very well unless dropped of beforehand (so better to keep at home and drink yourself).

Good point. I've recently started usng US-05 for my pale ales and noticing it doesn't drop anywhere near as clear as the 04.
Might swicth back :wha:
That's odd as I've had some superbly clear results using US-05 after adding a sheet of leaf gelatine for fining:

Oh I just meant when racking out of the FV, the 04 has never needed any kind of crash cooling to clear but the 05 does need that extra step.
I BIAB and always have but both produce a nice clear glass of beer by drinking time. :D
