Looking to order a couple of 25kg bags of (crushed) malt and just wondering who is the beer right now for this?

Nearly ordered from Bigger Jugs until I noticed on checkout that they want £36 for shipping. To be fair that is next day shipping but their standard postage isn’t exactly better at £118.

Open to paying delivery on it providing it’s not extortionate and more than happy to collect if anyone knows of any suppliers within the Manchester or Liverpool area.

A lot of places have a free delivery threshold. Can you nudge the order up to that size, or does the weight of the grain mean it's excluded from that offer

Yeah i don’t believe they offer this unfortunately. Do you by any chance know any shops that do provide a free delivery threshold on grain orders? honestly I would buy 5 25kg bags just to get the free shipping. I have a 15 keg draft setup and a lot of storage for brewing in my garage so happy to buy big occasionally.

I ordered recently from the homebrewcompany following a recent post on here.

I'm not far from Liverpool, would be up for adding a 25kg bag in to your order (maybe 2) if you are up for it?

Yeah I would be up for this mate what shop would you want to order from?

Wouldn’t really be worth it from the homebrewcompany because once you are on the £7.99 postage (per 25kg bag) they basically end up being the same cost as most home brew shops. The £28/25kg sacks are not actually a sale when you add £7.99 to each bag in postage.

If you have anyone in mind please do let me know!

The malt miller is an option but at £38 I do feel like a shop somewhere must be able to do a little better!

Splitting feathers homebrew is only in Bolton and they do 25kg for £35.. Works out similar to the malt miller in all honesty.

On the search for any local breweries now that would be open to selling. Will let you know if I find any.

This doesn't seem to make sense.
If your buy from HBC at £28 plus £8 delivery, that makes £36. That's still cheaper than MM at £38 and you haven't included MM's delivery charge!
That said, it's only the Minch pale or lager at that price. Fortunately, both are excellent malts with amazing extraction.
Again, if you're ordering crushed malt you should give Shane a call to check his mill as I've heard of a couple of people complain the crush is a bit irregular. I only get caramalt crushed (for my bread) and there are some uncrushed grains in it.

Is HBC still offering the forum a 5% discount? I couldn't get it to work with my last order.

As for MM. I still don't understand why I can buy Simpson' malts from Rolling Beers in France for around £5 a sack less than from MM in the country of origin. Sure, I would expect continental malts to be cheaper, and they are. MM is excellent on other respects, but for bulk malt they're my last port of call.

I was in Carnival Brewing recently and saw their malt all piled up in the warehouse. Must have been 30 unopened bags in there. Could be worth an ask?

There's also the Liverpool homebrewing club, they might know of somewhere local.
