Which Regulator

I’m looking to start kegging my brews instead of bottling but finding it hard to find a regualor for a decent price. I have looked through loads of related items on this forum and it seems that fleabay regs need to measure pressure and not flow. Most are welding regulators! I dunno about such stuff...that one is directly from China so if it isn't what you want or its no good you'll have bother or a wait to get it sorted.
I'd get one from malt miller or similar..

Try it and see, all I can tell you is that every Kegland reg I have used has been faulty :/ My regs are by Lierna an italian company, they really aren't cheap but are widely considered the best and they have never let me down like cheaper ones have.

I use a Regulator on top of a Sodastream bottle as per the photograph ...

I usually keep a couple of Growlers under pressure and a Sodastream Cylinder usually lasts about 6 months.

This. Much higher quality than the compact ones, I’ve had 2 fail due to dodgy gauges.

I have had a couple off eBay, both were absolutely cr@p at keeping a steady PSI, I then bought the Maltmiller Italian one, about £50. It’s top quality and works perfectly. I bought the John Guest speed fittings and the premium keg disconnects at the same time. I wish I had done this first time rather than wasting money on poor quality stuff off eBay.

i have the one the O.P. listed.off ebay for £11, buyer sold cheap because the fitting to co2 tank was not a B/S.fitting.
i had a aquarium, one so used the connector of that.sad to wait weeks for stuff,and then its U/S.

Ok, thanks everyone. So it seems my plan to save a couple of quid isn’t such a good idea after all. It looks like brewkegtap do the same Italian ODL Reg as Maltmiller and I was looking to get the kegs from them anyway. Will probably add it to my basket too :)

I'm hopefully getting my first corny keys tomorrow, so been wandering about regulators myself these last 2 days. Thankfully I've a local homebrew shop that might have them. But other than that would buying off Amazon using owner reviews really be an idea as an alternative?. It's just that I don't know if it's just my thinking about do we really have to get the most expensive or have some been unlucky as surely not all the slightly cheaper regulators (but not the very cheapest) can ALL be poor and useless can they?.

in my experience the cheaper ones are mechanically inferior. They don’t seem to hold a steady PSI when carbonating using the “set and forget” method, e.g 10-14 days at 12 PSI, I kept having to let more CO2 in or use the release valve, whereas a number of us with the maltmiller one have found them to be excellent. I never have to touch it, just sits at 12 PSI all the time.

If you are getting kegs from brewkegtap, might be worth looking at the starter kits. Mine came with a kegland mk4 reg, have only had it a week so can't vouch for any long term reliability but so far the pressure has stayed exactly where I set it

Fair enough, and that's 1 of the things that would really concern me, a "set & forget" method to find you've lost PSI. But then again I'd be overly cautious that I'd be constantly checking the PSI anyway lol.
