Next up was Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm which I really enjoyed. There's a lot more of the same as last time round, exposing people's prejudices mostly, but there is more of a scripted narrative this time round which gives plenty of scope for poking fun at Kazakh "customs". If you're a SBC fan then you'll probably enjoy it.
I watched that yesterday, I found the 1st hour wasn't great but had its moments but the ending was a master piece.

Watched a Spanish film called "the platform" on Netflix was a bit unusual its based around a vertical prison made up of platforms, 2 people per platform and a limited amount of food works its way down the platforms each day as the inmates try and survive.

Its gets a it dark in places I enjoyed the first half but thought it tailed off a bit, worth a watch for something a bit different.

The Christian women’s clinic scene had me in tears of laughter. I loved the “plot twist” as well.

Watched the Gentleman last night, slow start but really enjoyed the film typical Guy Ritchie film.

Watching 1917 on Prime as we speak

Watched David Copperfield last night very good version. Although my favourite version is the 1938 one with W C Fields.

I watched "Black and Blue" the other night, streamed through NowTV/Sky movies and it was actually really good.

No mega big names but a few faces you would recognize but the story and acting was really good. It deserved the 5 out of 5 stars it had.

I watched a couple of movies this week at opposite ends of the quality spectrum. First was Rebecca, the Netflix remake, and it was about the blandest thing I've ever seen. It looked quite nice and was well shot but otherwise just completely forgettable. I haven't seen the original but I know it's highly regarded by many so I don't know why this version was even made.

By contrast I also watched Adaptation which is one of the most original and interesting movies I've seen in a long time. It's a Charlie Kaufman screenplay so you know it's not going to be a straight forward movie, and as it turns out it's just beyond meta.

It's about Charlie struggling with writers block while trying to write a screenplay for a book with no real narrative, trying to keep it purely about the subject, but eventually writing it about himself trying to write it, which is actually the movie you're watching, which then devolves into all the silly action movie nonsense that he didn't want in it o_O

Kaufman really is a genius and this movie is wonderfully original, funny, and moving as all of his movies are. This is also one of Nicholas Cage's few really great performances (dual performance actually as Charlie and his twin brother) reminding us that he can be brilliant with a good writer and director (see also Raising Arizona). This is on Netflix right now and I can't recommend it enough.

Watched Enola Holmes on Netflix with my good lady (her choice). It was pretty decent if a little teenagery at times. The young girl who played the lead role is very good. She breaks the forth wall regularly to very good effect. Good story, some good performances and some good action sequences. Worth a watch, particularly if you're a fan of any of the modern Sherlock Holmes stuff.
