Hi Guys

I haven't been on here since my first brew but I've got 8 extract kits under my belt now so I feel it is time to start messing around a bit more.

I have the intention to make a better brew IPA kit tomorrow but instead of keeping it simples I'm going to make a hop tea and also dry hop in the fermenter.

My question is I have 3 hop varieties in the freezer donated off my local microbrewery [beautiful people whose beer I drink far too much of] which are challenger, centennial and cascade.

I don't know if I should go for a single variety or bang a bit of all 3 in and hope for the best as I haven't hopped a kit up before

Cheers

I don't know what hops are in the Better Brew IPA but personally I would keep the Challenger separate from the Centennial and Cascade because of the styles of beer they produce.

So, and again I stress that this is just an opinion, if you want to retain a traditional IPA style then go with the challenger. If you want some of the big citrus flavours associated with the american hops then you can either use the Centennial and Cascade on their own or in a blend.

I just made an IPA (Modus Hoperandi) with Challenger as the bittering hop and Citra as the aroma hop.

Citra and cascade are very much alike and I find they go together very well indeed.

Experimentation is the key here.

Try what ever you like, you never know you may accidentally find a winner.

Have fun,

Terry.
