Hi all.

I'm just doing a bit more to my build, which seems to be taking an age but there you go and I was wondering if anyone had had any issues with the location of their PT100 sensor in relation to the element.
I have a 50Ltr nordic pot with the element low down at the back, ball valve at the bottom front and a Mashmaster temp guage about a third up the front. The next best place I can see for the PT100 is again about a third up to one side of the guage.
What I was wondering was, is the "Thermal Mixing" that will go on in the pot sufficient to ensure that the probe reads more or less what the water temp actually is, (if that makes sense). Obviously at the back above the element is a no no but I didn't want any cool spots, if indeed you get any.

if I was doing mine again, I'd go lower down the pot.

Where my probe is at the moment it's too far above the element, so when running off for sparging the water level drops below the probe long before it reaches the element... on the boiler it gets in the way of the cooler.

I have the same problem as Simon. Annoying.

Mount it just above the element on the opposite side of the pot.

There will be thermal mixing to some extent but there will be a large differential around the pot. You really need to destratisfy the water by stirring, or pumping it as I do. I can have as much as 10degC in my HLT.
