Hi, has anyone had any experience of using the Sanders yeast (liquid or dry) from WHC?
I'm toying with the idea of getting a 500g block and before I went ahead wondered what people's experiences had been, good or bad.
From the description it sounds like it is possibly a rebadged Lallemand New England yeast (Conan) and had a few brews coming up that called for something similar.

Cheers in advance

There's little doubt that it's intended to be their version of Conan, what with Bernie Sanders coming from Vermont, and the dry version will be the Lallemand one rebadged. So it'll have a relatively low cell count and it's a good idea to pitch generously. Otherwise - meh, it's Conan.

There's a good reason that most people doing hoppy beers have gone over to using 1318 and derivatives like Lallemand Verdant....

Thanks, I thought as much.
I've fallen foul of the Lallemand New England pitch rate before, only when you look at the calculator and realise you need 3 packs for a batch and only gave 1 in stock
I did an Even Sharks Need Water clone with the Verdant yeast, came out well, and have another planned in this weekend coming so should have a feel for it after that.
I follow a few of the threads over on the US site and I'm looking to do a DIPA soon, other than the dried Verdant are there any other dried yeasts you'd recommend for an East coast style?
I haven't had much success with liquid yeast in the past, hence my reason for wanting to use dried

If you're restricted to dry then Verdant is the obvious one.

I guess Voss (and its white label equivalents) could be an option - but you don't really want to be exposing heavily hopped beers to higher temperatures than necessary. Other than that SO4 would work, there's an HBT thread that's used a combination of genetic analysis and test brewing to suggest that at one point at least (but probably no longer), Treehouse may have been using SO4 with around 5% each of T-58 and WB-06.

But Verdant is the obvious option, no doubt the whitelabel mob will have their versions of it soon.

Thanks 👍 I've had good results recently with using the Voss Kveik from CML in APAs at the high end of the range (35c). I'll see how I go with Verdant in my next batch (Sonoma clone) and take it from there
