What's your favourite Christmas tipple ?

I'm talking about the stuff we normally buy in over the festive period...

Mine is a Brandy Alexander - 1 Part Brandy, 1 Part Creme de Cacao, 1 Part Single Cream, shaken in cocktail shaker....mmmmmmmm.
... and poured into an oktoberfest, litre glass and ballcocks to the olives, cocktail umbrellas and other such encumbrances. Make me one, too!
 
I don't often start until the evening, but over Christmas, I love a good, hoppy, session beer that I can drink all day without falling over.
You can shove your bucks fizz up your collective jacksies, oh yeah of the limp-wristed brigade.
 
I tend to start on home brew,move to a few whiskies in the late afternoon (I might not do this ) then back to home brew...then it sort of descends into carnage. Falling asleep and over are normal as is getting a "second wind " after forcing down loads of "buffet food" on top of a roast dinner. And cheese...lots of smelly cheese and pickled onions.
I cant blinking wait!
 
used to be baileys, but as I have to improve my diet will be a homemade snowball (I use double the amount of advocaat wink...)

How is that good for your diet?
Christmas is the time to live or die on the drinking bench like a man. As we say in Valhalla.
 
Specifically at Christmas time I observe the following traditions:

1. First Sunday in December I mine-sweep the drinks cupboards and any bottles with less than a third in them I see off to make room for new supplies.

2. Fortnum & Mason cream sherry. Wif'es mate gets a hamper from work each year. She doesn't like sherry. We do.

3. Remy Martin - I get to fill up my decanters in December, one of them will always have Remy in it. It is inevitably savagely reduced at at least one of the supermarkets.

4. Scotch and dry ginger - this is my go to 'long' drink over he Christmas period, seem to get awarded a pass for guzzling this.

5. A relatively new one - homemade damson gin. Makes a nice change from the traditional sloe stuff.

I do like a Whisky Mac!!

I too tend to have a few of these over Christmas, no reason I shouldn't have it more often really but never think about it and there's so much other stuff to drink (beer/cider/etc.). Also partial to its more alcoholic cousin the Whisky Mac (Whisky and Green Ginger Wine), got really drunk on this in my younger days at my Uncle's party 😁

Only ever use cooking whisky when diluting it (supermarket own brand, Bells, etc.), single malts are reserved for sipping.

Likewise one of the supermarkets will be knocking out a litre of grouse for 15 quid

Given that my birthday is on 24th December, Christmas morning is always a struggle...I start at about 1030 with a sherry or two.....

lol - it's not drinking the cream in baileys. The continentals egg nog is even better than the stuff we get here.

I'm all for that valhalla stuff but if I died at Christmas Mrs. DOJ would kill me :roll:
 
I'm quite partial to homemade Eggnog but is is slightly frowned upon now after my brother in law nearly ended up in A&E after falling down the stairs one Christmas Eve...

... Proper 10 year old Tawny Port is a must with the Stilton. A decent oloroso sherry with some Mince Pies. The latest Fullers Vintage Ale in front of the fire once the kids are in bed is an end of day treat too.
 
Gaelic coffee in bed, bucks fizz with brekkie, couple glasses of wine in the morning, more wine with lunch, sherry with Christmas pud, couple of beers and a port or two in the afternoon, wine with tea, a decent rum or three in the evening. Job done!
