I assume you had an infection leading to your losing your 1st batch.

To minimise the risk of infection, I keep it in the FV, on the trub, for 2-3 weeks (sometimes 3-4 weeks).

I make on my priming solution with the correct amount of sugars for the desired carbonation %, dilute this in the qty of boiling water that would fill 15ml into each planned bottle, dose the 15ml of priming solution, when cooled, in the washed and rinsed bottles, and then bottle straight into them from the FV.

Less work, improved quality (the yeast cleans up alot of unwanteds), drastically reduced risk of infection.

Works for me.

No mate it was actually my fault due to overpriming but an off taste was definitely present , someone suggested it may have been fusel but my brewing temperatures are probably the same as most. It's strange to say the least.
