Hi,
There is so many juice types out there to choose from but they cant all work, so what dose.
I know grape and orange as that the first WOW but what other work nice, i dont want to make one and it be rank.

F eel free to post up the options that dont work and way

also what dose tanning do, i dont have any is it needed for the WOW to work

It is impossible to list flavours of WOW variants that are not nice as we all have different tastes but having made many gallons of WOW some of my favourites are -

Pomegranate + WGJ Cranberry + WGJ Tesco Apple /mango + WGJ Tesco Apple/raspberry + WGJ

There are many more but these are the juices Tesco stock at the moment, have a look at the recipes and comments in this thread for more ideas - viewtopic.php?f=41&t=39846

If you don't have any tannin make a mug of black tea out of 3 teabags and stir it regularly over a 15 minute period as you get your other stuff ready to make some wine, it does the same job as powdered tannin, lots of members use this method.

Tannins do three different things. The first is flavour. Tannins increase the zesty flavor thats lacking in many home made wines. The tannin is the "zest" or peel of the grape. Tannins help clarification. Residual proteins and other particles are neutralized and dropped out of suspension just by it being in the wine. They also aid in the aging and keeping qualities of the wine. Wines that are deficient in tannin do not take advantage of the aging process very well improving only marginally. They also tend to deteriorate more rapidly in longer storage situations.

Thanks some good info there i live near a LHBS so will get some tanning's

When i say ones the dont work, i mean like types of juice the will not ferment. ones the react badly with other juice. OR is it just a case of ever thing works so pick a flavor and go for it.

Also what is a good none fermentable sweetener. am not a fan of very dry wine

The only thing I can think of is don't use juice with preservatives in them, it kills the yeast slowly and your wine will finish early.
Basically if you can drink it you can turn it into wine.

If you stabilise your wine after fermentation has finished with Campden tablets and potassium sorbate then you can sweeten it to your tastes with sugar or grape juice.

The better non-fermentable sweeteners are probably Splenda or Truvia. I've never tried adding either to a wine because I can still taste them in coffee.

But avoid tomato juice

I only make multiple gallon batches so white grape juice plus a mixture of orange and pineapple is my ‘house white’.

There is so many different posts showing so many different way to make WOW orange one.

here is what i have

100% orange juice 1L
100% white grape juice 1L
1ts wine yeast
1.5ts yeast nutrient
1ts glycerine
1/2ts tanning
800g sugar
DJ 1gal
Water 5L

is this all that is need to make orange WOW. i have seen post using a lot more chemicals. but also seen post using the same as with i have posted. so do i need anything more or am i good to go, i don't want to add unneeded chemicals i just want to keep it nice and clean. guy at LHBS said all chemicals have an taste of some sort so the more you use the more you change the final product.

That is the standard wow recipe, if you read this thread from the beginning you will find lots more recipes. viewtopic.php?f=41&t=39846
If you don't like the finished orange wow don't be put off trying others, of all the wow variants I have made the orange one is my least favourite.

Hi, yes i have seen your post it looks VERY good, and i will be brewing more, but i wanted to start at the beginning.
There is so little time and so much to drink

in the real world all i have ever drunk is stella, bitter and apple cider so i have never had a drink like wow that why i want to start at the beginning and brew them all as i have no idea what i will/wont like.

Let us know how you get on.

well its been 24hr's the wwhhhoooosh as happens so i topped it up the 4.75L, the smell of fermenting orange is very strange, its not a bad smell so i know the brew is fine but it just smells wrong.

tomorrow i will start a new brew as i like to stagger the starts by a 1 day or 2.
next brew Ribena wine, i will use 2L a juice after your advice in post one about some brew's tasting of water. but other than that al stick the word of the letter

1 litre Ribena(will use 2)
500g Sugar
1 tsp Pectolase (i dont have this do i have to get some or can i start without it)
1 tsp citric acid
1 tsp Glycerine
1 tsp Yeast
1 tsp Nutrient
Tannin or cup of black tea

Right i went to my local shop (asda), and i found out that ever brand of juice and even type of juice is around 25-35% juice, with the exception of grape(red and white) apple and orange there all 100%.

so to make WOW i need 100% grape 1L, and any other juice would be 25to33% so would i need 3L?
It's like ribena is around 6% juice. its not until you look that you see how crap is in fruit juice and how little juice is in it.

Two of my favourites are Pomegranate with white Grape and Blueberry with red grape.

The worst one I've made was Robinsons Summer Fruits.....the unfermentable artificial sweeteners make the brew sickly sweet.

If i can only find juice that is between 30% - 50% i use 2 litres and a litre of WGJ in each DJ.

My favourite two wow's at the moment are apple and raspberry + WGJ and apple and mango + WGJ these are 90% apple and 10% flavour so i only use one in each DJ with a litre of WGJ.

I use the 2 main to 1 grape ratio also.....works every time :thumb:

WOW wa-wa-wee-wa, orange WOW  , i think as chalk that one up as a swing and a miss.

I have a apple+mango and a Pomegranate + blueberry on the go that smell fantastic. let see if there better than orange.

I think the orange wow is an acquired taste, I wasn't keen but it was good enough to get me hooked and the pomegranate one I made next was excellent.
Are you using WGJ in the next ones?
