My homebrew starter pack had an extract brew included (contents below). looking for advice/recommendations on what to do with it. If I just brew the kit as it is will I get a 'lager-ry' pale ale? not necessarily a bad thing with summer a few(ish) months away, alternatively would it be worthwhile adding more hops and/or steeping grains.

Vic Secret Beer Ingredient Kit contains :
3 x 1.2kg Extra Light Liquid Malt (should have been 'Light' malt but they were out)
1 x Isomerised hop extract: 40 IBU's3 x 20g Vic Secret hop tea bags
1 x Lallemand BRY 97 West Coast Ale Yeast

You can adjust the brewed volumes to alter the ABV as you like. We have suggested two formats below of 25 litres and 20 litres:

25 Litres
Starting Gravity: 1042
Final Gravity: 1011
ABV: 4.1%

20 Litres
Starting Gravity: 1053
Final Gravity: 1013
ABV: 5.2%

Personally I would keep it simple if your just starting out and seeing how you like the results. Then you can decide where to go from there. Also the difference will also be in the taste between 20 and 25 ..But I am sure either will be tasty.

I would go with the 20L one with just the LME and hops supplied

Thanks for the advice, I think that would be the sensible option at my level and maybe just the 20l, I might do it next, I've also got a Triple Tyke in the queue.
