What to do with all this crystal malt

I've just been given 6 kg of crystal malt for free, that has a use by date of February 14. Any ideas about how I can use this in one or two brews as a base?

You only want up to 20% in a batch otherwise it's going to get cloying and sweet, overpowering.

Just brew lots!

IGNORE the BBE date. I use adjuncts/hops that are several years old with no issues.
As long as the malt smells/tastes fine it will be fine. You are using crystal for colour not for sugars so just use it as you need to.

You didn't get it from Nature's Way in Belfast by any chance did you?

I doubt it has a use by date. It will be a best before date which means what it says. It won't suddenly be unusable after Valentine's Day.

Exactly, providing it's stored properly it will last at least a year or so.

Wow....you guessed right....I take it you have been a beneficiary too.

The date wasnt Valentines Day....it was Feb 2014 :lol:

I've had something of a surplus of crystal for a while now.

GW's recipe for Arckell's Mash-Tun Mild uses a surprisingly high percentage of it, and it is a pretty tasty drop, too.
