Hey there guys, I've just completed a morgans blue mountain lager which I was pleased with, but I'm not sure what I should do next, are the premium kits partically better than standard kits? Which are the best? Any suggestions are really appreciated!

Alex

Alex, the answer is yes the primium kit are great. Try beers you like firts then add a bit of diveristy.

as prolix said the premium kits are better - well worth the extra few quid. After that you could try an extract recipe - like this

http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/index.php ... -pack.html

look at the recipe section too - i did a summer ale which was great, you only need a large pan and thermometer and off you go - i can really reccomend it :thumb: After a few extract brews you`ll be looking at going for an AG brew

Thankyou so much guys, I really wanna try extract brewing but not sure of many recipes for extract brewing, does anyone have any or know the best place to find good ones? Thankyou rickthebrew I will try the website now!
Alex

Cheers again rickthebrew, I've just ordered the "Golden lager" today but I will be doing the "Summer Ale" next I think! www.Thethriftyshopper.co.uk worked out to be cheaper with free delivery so I order all the ingredients from them instead of brewuk ha! ;) cheers again!

nice one alex - you won`t look back :thumb: i`ve heard good reports of brews way to amarillo recipe to

bet you can`t wait to get stuck in :thumb:

No I cant! went for a little shop for a new brewing pot today, everywhere is useless even the giant asda living near me didnt have one! had to settle for a Range stainless steel 5 litre one, a little small but it'll have to do lol. what's the best type of bottles to have the homebrew in? atm ive been using basic 500ml green PET bottles which i've recycled, isit worth paying out the a**** for 24 brown PET bottles or will these give as good results do you think?

alex

the PET bottles will be fine -green is fine also, i bottle all my brews in clear glass newcastle brown bottles - they hold a pint almost and I get them free from a endless supply ( I have around 300 at present) crown caps and a capping tool are cheap to buy and I prefer glass bottles but plastic is fine if you don`t plan to store for many months ( this won`t be an issue i assure you  ) so its up to you - don`t buy any, get down your local pub and scavange empty bottles or your bottle bank and ask friends to save bottles to

if you do use clear bottles store them in the dark or in a box to avoid the sunlight reacting with the hops which can cause off flavours in your brews - if they are stored well then you`ll never have a problem, i haven`t ( 15 kits and 11 AG brews all bottled apart from 2 :thumb: )

good luck with the brew - the pan will be fine just use less water for the boil and top up at the end :drink:
