Right, just out of curiosity can you remember which beer kit got you started in our wonderful hobby of brewing. It would be interesting to know how the forums moderators and admin staff started.

Mine was a Young’s Brew Buddy bitter kit, which my wife brought me.

Bargin Brew Mild was my first attempt at homebrewing and very nice it was to :D

John Bull Bitter 8 Pint Trial Kit

And no I didn't follow the instructions

It was a Sarah's bitter dry malt kit around 1985.

Not a bad pint if I remember correctly.

Never seen one since though.

Geordie Bitter IIRC. I was a first year student back then so my memory isn't too... Half ten love, do you still want that biscu., rain.

Brupaks Fixby Gold for me...still a fine pint :drink: then a Woodefords Nelsons revenge...another cracking pint, and finally a Brewferm cracker.....can't remember which one  ...thinks a x-mas cracker :drink:
I went very quickly to AG, and even quicker to a HERMS.

I've never tried extract, missed that step altogether, but I've enjoyed/am enjoying the trip so far :drink:

Geordie Bitter as bought from a garden centre.

edit: bottled in 2 litre PETs recycled from fizzy drinks. It was average.

Wherry in a King Keg with a muzzy of First Gold as a dry hop.

I reckon I'd have joined the CBA on about five occasions if it didn't require a cheque or postal order. Might as well have asked for groats, three hens or savings stamps -- haven't had a cheque book in a decade or more.

I think Mosher is in the latest magazine too, and I quite like the cut of his jib :)

I think it was a Milestone IPA rather nice as well if memory serves me correctly.

Did a few more kits and got a few more barrels bottles and bits.

First AG was TEA after I had been over with aleman and did an imperial russian stout with him.

Coopers Draught.
Tasted of plastic (used a 30+ year old fermentation bucket).
Dispensed from king keg it was flat and lifeless.

Put me off home brewing for about 10 years.
Didn't have the internets back then.

You can now pay by standing order ;). . . .I didn't see anything by Mosher . . . need to read it again :wha:

22 years ago they still sold stuff in boots, so whatever they were selling, with shed loads of extra sugar and some yeast from Linbrew, high alcohol. It tasted foul but by eck we got slaughtered.

I think it was a bitter kit from Woolworths :wha:
I know it was from Woolies whatever it was ;)

25 years ago or so, I used to watch my Dad make Ironmaster Bitter with the most enormous stock pot I'd ever seen
I started brewing wines really when I got my first house and did a few unsucessful Coopers kits......this was about 12 years ago.
Got 'the urge' again this year around August after a friend recommended Muntons Gold IPA......then I found this place and now 25kg saks of Marris Otter are looking very sexy indeed

My first kit is perhaps a little easier to remember than a few of you.

Youngs definitive bitter. Bottled it last week.
