what fitting would i need for a 15mm herms coil inside a 70ltr pot, coming out one end would be the ball valve tap, and on the other would be a silicon pipe, brass or copper fittings would be ok for me
Hope that makes sense

Are you trying to join a silicone hose on one end of the 15mm tube ? If so you can probably warm it up and seal it over the outside with a jubilee clip or use a hose tail adapter if you want something more secure. Can you give me a bit more info about the other end

no thats not what i mean, its the herms coil, i want to attach it to the inside of my 70 ltr pot so i can recirculate the wort from the mash tun through the coil

assuming your copper coil is 10mm pipe you could use a 10mm straight compression coupler. Thats what we used.

you will need a few shower head rubber washers just to make the hole watertight but our water level never gets that far up the pot

Gotcha :thumb:

Have a look at CNP HERMS. I will post more details if you need tank connectors etc. This relies on you having a torch for the soldering though.

The compression couplers just act as a hole in the pot the 10mm copper pipe passes straight through. You can tighten up the nut onto the pipe when your done so the coil is stable

You will struggle to get a watertight seal through the wall of the HERMS with the fitting you are proposing (15 mm compression coupler) unless you glue it in with an epoxy type adhesive.

For a better job try 1/2" X 15mm Male coupler on one side of the HERMS and 1/2" X 15mm Female coupler on the other. If you drill the holes through the HERMS wall the same size as the male thread diameter (1/2" BSP) then the male will pass through the wall and can be screwed into the female with a nylon washer to seal, thread tape will seal up well if you make the thread a tight fit through the holes. This will give you a 15mm compression fitting on either end so you can easily remove the HERMS for cleaning.

There are other ways of doing this using tank connectors but it is more work as the inner diameter needs opening up with a file.

the point is you dont need a watertight seal as ive previously mentioned the water level never comes up that high. Your idea will work we just used the 10mm straight compression coupler for an easy fix the shower washers make it water tight anyway
