Short and shoddy Dead Pony Clone today.
Wasn’t meant to be S&S but just as strike water got up to temperature my wife asked “how long are you going to be, I’d like us to go out somewhere this afternoon” ashock1
So, I added an extra 1kg MO to the grist and went ahead with a just a 30 minute mash then upped the first hop addition to get me up to the required IBU and did a 30 minute boil. I chilled it down to 28 degrees C and stuck the lid on it then we went out.
When we got back the wort was down to 25C so I poured it into the FV, pitched the CML5 yeast and put it into the brew fridge set at 19 degrees. Now, 4 hours after pitching, the FV is down to 21C. Hopefully it‘ll turn out ok 🤞

First time using my Klarstein maishfest today ,i brewed a Dunkleweizen with partial extract ,very happy with the brew vessel and looking forward to using all grain after i do a christmas stout using the last of my extract .

It’s going fine...but takes a while! In the instructions it says to heat to 115c...this seemed to get to 105/6 then take ages to reach temp, keeping it between 115 and 120 takes a bit of messing about..you can’t leave it.
I’m going to put it,hot, into kilner jars using my jam funnel..I’ll put the jar on the scales first and tare it so I can get the right amount in.

That's the invert done. Tastes very nice..a bit more flavour than golden syrup.

A peach melomel from the book ”Making Mead”. Only my second crack at mead. Need to get a beer rocking in the next couple of weeks. Also dabbling with a 30 bottle premium kit of grenache rose, which is coming along very nicely.

Yesterday ‘brewed’ my first ever turbo cider. Added 17l Sainsbury’s apple juice into the FV, followed by 2l of Brita filtered boiled, cooled tap water and another litre that had four PG Tips bags stewed in it for 15 minutes and four tea spoons (11g) of pectolise dissolved in it. I couldn’t make it too easy for myself so rehydrated a 5g sachet of CML cider yeast (with nutrient) in 70ml of water held at 32c in a water bath/stir plate. Pitched this after 30s of pure O2 and holding the whole thing at 20c. OG 1.042 and slowly bubbling 18 hours later.

Mash & boil today -Dark Old Ale, cooling overnight in jerry can. Transferring to fermentor tomorrow with MJ Empire Ale M15 yeast (which I've never tried before).
Recipe if anyones interested:
3kg Maris Otter
100g chocolate malt
100g black malt
100g extra dark crystal
100g caramalt
100g flaked barley
10g Magnum
18g EKG
10g EKG at flame out

I'm still debating whether to add 250g golden syrup to bump up the OG to keep it more in style for an old ale.
