What BBQ?

I'm in the market.

The last couple of days sunshine has just made me realise my shonky 4 year old Aldi special rust bucket of a BBQ is not going to be with me much longer.

Also interested about this. Looking to upgrade mine.

From what I have read, Weber are highly regarded. The Master Touch being the best model in the range and gets really great reviews. However, I am not sure I can justify spending £300-ish.

I might just go for the original weber 57cm kettle, which is a bit cheaper, but should still be a huge improvement on what I currently have.

I'm in for a Weber genesis 11...if I can get it for under a grand!
I got a Jamie Oliver atm which is probably 7+ years and it's been great but the firebox is burnt through at the back and the flame tamers were burnt away...I've repaired the box and replaced the flame tamers but it's basically knackered.
I use mine most weeks,rain,sun or snow so it's an investment.... Weber come with a 10 year guarantee too.

57cm Weber kettle, versatile, customisable and are popular for a reason. I've one with the GBS grate, which fits an amazon essentials Cast Iron dutch pot and a pizza stone. I can pretty much cook anything on it as the dutch pot lid also acts as a griddle, it even accommodates a wok. All of which you can buy a weber version of for a pretty penny.

At the risk of starting an argument, gas or charcoal (personally i think both have their merits)?

I will go gas as I use a side burner a lot.

My dad uses gas too, results are great. We're looking to get a gas one at some point too.

Definitely better results than using the cooker.

I have a Weber Original kettle. It is a fantastic piece of kit and built to last. As well as standard bbq fare, I have cooked Pizza, roast dinner etc on it. Yes it's expensive, but the extra cost is worth it

I’ve just gone gas after by charcoal barrel smoker died. Have enjoyed what it’s cooked so far, handled a whole chicken quite well last week.
One other advantage, our village has a gas shop where I can get the propane for the grill, and my CO2 cylinders for my cornies, happy days!

I've used a gas bbq for about 10 years now and would never go back to charcoal. Charcoal messy and time consuming.
Current Bbq was from asda about 3 years, 4 burners and a side plate. It also has solid cast iron grill plates which are better than the flimsy wire ones.
Gas bbq still gives a good taste and cooks steaks perfectly and very tasty.
Still going strong, is in garage when not in use.
All down to personal opinion and preferences.
