that is impressive robin, many supermarket beers i've bought have often waved a single hop from across the room at the beer. I've read the label 'brewed with x hops' then expected a fruity, orangy , lemony taste but ended up not picking anything up. :-(

there was one beer that had galaxy and I could not pick up the galaxy at all but they may have hopped at 10g per 20 litres whereas i hop 100-150g
I would like to think it was impressive, but having done some brews with English hops and then New World hops the difference is massive, but both have their merits of course. Just made an EKG Smash from the GH book and its great but different in a good way. It reminds me in fact, how beer used to be in this great country....Ive got to stop, Ive got a tear in my eye.

Well apparently Hop House 13 is brewed with galaxy and mosaic :wha: If anyone could pick that out I'd be mightily impressed  I'd love to know what their hopping rates are.

A pimped Woodfordes Nog I made back in May. Added dark malt extract, black treacle, and Bourneville plain chocolate. Some forumites rightly pointed out that chocolate might not be a good idea, but, although it's taken a long time, it was worth the wait. And I think, it's better than the real Nog.

Last nite had a "Bad King John". A sort of very dark bitter. Very nice it was too. It was only when I had emptied the bottle, did I realise it was bottle conditioned.

a stealth triple defrosted from the freezer from last night

adnams broadside

sleighed in belguim.... lush

and a victory vital ipa. can't remember if it was good so I bought another to confirm!

Beer night tonight! Last beer was Friday last week! I'll be finishing off the last 5 of my modded simply pale with chinook and comet additions, it's been a lovely drop, just a shame 40 pints doesn't last as long as I think it should :drink:

Going to be having a few beers tonight as a reward for completing a 60km bike ride this morning. GOt a few different beers in so not sure what I'll be having. One this is for sure, I'll be finishing the night on the Barrel Aged Caribbean Chocolate Cake by Siren. Really looking forward to that big mean ******* of a beer!

Tonight I'm drinking Camerons Strongarm brewed from the recipe in Graham Wheelers book, which I kegged in August.
I've never tasted the real thing, so have no idea if it tastes anything like it, but it's a nice pint: initially quite sweet, with a sort of toasty taste and a dry finish. The hops don't really come through all that much, but it's quite well balanced. It's a nice dark red colour, I'd say about the same colour as hobgoblin.
I brewed 50 litres and was going to wait for Xmas, but I'll have to make do with 25 litres; as once it's in the fridge I can't ignore it calling out to me every time I enter the kitchen.

Very expensive ****......it's a mates birthday so I'm in the pub and not one that goes out of its way to stock interesting or unusual beers. Still between the bottles of Abbot and the daft Warsteiner I'm sure I'll manage.

Had a Coopers treacle stout to begin with and I've got a bulldog IPA on the go now, its toooo strong so I'll have to take it easy, the upside is I was considering disposing of it all about three weeks ago, but it's just come drinkable now so it's got a stay of execution.
Had a few Wherries last night and after three months in the bottle it's just divine to my taste considering it's a kit and was my first, I've got twelve bottles left and they're getting saved till Christmas Day to share.

Its sour Sunday!
Popped into my local beer shop today and picked up
sour suzy Berliner Weisse
Strata citrus sour
and a Lindemans Gueuze to finish with.
Only problem is I have to share them with Mrs JFB

(1) My Woodfordes Nog, with added DME, black treacle, & chocolate
(2) A dutch malty lager: Hertog Jan. (Pron: hair-tok yon) {translates as: Duke John} from a mini-keg at 3 deg C
(3) Austrian flower infused witt beer (cloudy lager): Edelweiss. Nice quality, full bodied lager with distinctive flower flavourings. Also chilled to 3 deg C....unusual, but worth checking out.

Quite a weird selection......., but it is the weekend.... (just):thumb:

A Coopers Mexican Cerveza, dropped the volume to 17lt and now have a simple but punchy beer @ 5.7%. :thumb:

Drinking one of these from Lidl while prepping for tomorrow's brew. My expectations weren't high but it's not too bad, a drinkable biere de garde, but there is an unusual slight metallic flavour to it.

Time for a taste test....My Chocolate infused Nog.v.Youngs Double Chocolate Stout
the Nog: dry, good body, good taste - except not enough chocolate.
The Youngs: less dry, bit more body, excellent chocolate taste. I have to admit the Youngs wins on points.
(Note to self: double the chocolate next time)

no shame there :thumb: the Youngs is one of the best commercial stouts of its type out there.
