This bottle of Porto 6 cost me £75.
I entered, and won the visitors prize at a comp at Malone Golf Club yesterday.
Green fees there are well over the ton, I got to play Belfast best parkland course in 22C sunshine (apologies to Belvoir and R.B. members if any are lurking). And I came away with a bottle of wine. Win win all round, I’ll savour every drop.

I seen a 1.5l box in Asda yesterday no golf required and you can enter the comp drink the box and loose and still be a winner.

Worse, I know enough members to play Malone for free, I don’t need to enter comps to pick up a half price green fee.
Even worse, I played golf at Queen‘s for 6 years (the pleasure of not getting through my degree course in the recommended amount of time). They had a clause that 6 years Uni membership allowed you to convert to full membership without having to go through the waiting/screening process or paying a joining fee. Unfortunately, back then the annual subs were well beyond me on a junior docs salary.

I will miss your nightly food and raki update. Mostly because I miss raki

I suspect though that my liver will very much appreciate the break, but yes I wouldn’t touch something like Raki normally, and I have no intention to bring any home with me (I have more than enough bottles of odd liqueur and spirts sitting mostly untouched) but while on holiday it or similar local spirts become oddly delicious.

Well we have had a few sessions in the pubs and trialing a few bottled beers. Not had a bad beer they will all suit someone but until today Blue Monkey Big Sip Pale Ale was the winner. An excellent beer at 4% ABV good body and hops are spot on.
Today I had Leather Britches Hairy Helmet, 4.7% ABV an Excellent beer from Ashbourne in Derbyshire. Definitely the best I have had so far.

Not impressed, carbonation seemed high too.

Big Sip IPA excellent session beer.

We’ve just got back from a pub lunch with friends. The only cask beer they had available was Master Brew so I wasn’t expecting much but because it was well kept it was passable. At home I’m having another try of my cask Pirate Pale and it’s come on over the last couple of days - it’s almost clear, it’s lost the yeasty flavour of unconditioned hoppy beer, and it’s starting to develop a mild zesty flavour that’s been missing until now. Getting there

Novalager pilsner, bang on 19 days from yeast pitch. It might only get to about 80% of a proper lager, but it sure gets to that 80% quickly.

In the Lych Gates in Wolverhsmpton town centre which is the absolute only thing that is better than how things were in the 1960s. This is a Montys Navigation and very crisp and refreshing.

Choking down the last few bottles of the Yorkshire bitter kit I made a few months back.

It's grim, but I need the bottles for vastly superior all grain brews, urgh, kits...never again

Pacific pale. A long time in the keg and very nice for it.

It’s hard to do but sometimes the best place for a bad beer is the sink, I find it incredibly freeing to just ditch a bad batch.
