Consoling myself after watching Bath play rugby. I probably need therapy after this season but beer will have to do.

According to my spread sheet this has now had 399 days in the bottle and it is quite curious how it has changed over time. When I first tried a bottle at about 30 days I would have described it as a Saison however after over a year in the bottle it has become a very different beer. While it still has hints of a typical Saison it is dulled somewhat with the flavour from the malt becoming much more prominent. I do like Saisons but I am extremely tempted to make this again and then just forget about it for a year or so might even go for the Wyeast French Saison yeast again rather than using a dried yeast.

Starting today with a Munich Helles from @Alastair70.

Just a heads up - I had to look up the guidelines for this one as I'm not sure how it's supposed to be. Please excuse my very amateur description.

Alastair's beers never disappoint - we have a medium bodied, malty lager with a slight bitterness and slight spicy hop flavour and aroma. I understand this is exactly to style, and is very tasty. Alastair's beers are always very fresh and much better than commercial examples in my opinion.

The only criticism I could give it was the very slight carbonation it had and lack of head. Obviously the journey can impede this though so not too much of a problem.

My lager hating husband loves it - you've won him over again Alastair!

Thank you for sending - we have really enjoyed it!

Sorry about the carbonation, I’ll blame the bottle filler and the trip across the pond for that.
Glad you enjoyed it despite that, this has become my house lager and there’s always one on tap. This particular keg has come out especially well. I needed a win after pouring its predecessor down the drain😖
