It was WLP500.

I’ve also used Mangrove Jacks M41 yeast, that finishes more dry and I got lower levels of esters from it.
That's Chimays yeast I think 530 is Westmalle. I really like them both probably because of the banana. Pick up a chimay blue from Tesco and see if it compares.

Having a mid week few drinks and then out for a bite to eat and a few more beers.
well it is a special day 😜

Most bars just have the generic choices and have done since I started drinking, 25 years ago! If you want, I can give you a list of the bars worth visiting, for the next time you visit.
That would be great. We tried biddles and the wife wouldn’t walk to woodworkers one case it was packed 🙄

QC on the wheat beer bottled last week...yup, its carbed and tastes nice and smooth. Subtle aromas, getting soft floral from the hops and feint banana. It needs longer carbing I think and another week for another sample but it's drinkable. Head faded quite quickly to a bubble ring round the glass but it's maintained by the steady stream of bubbles from the carbonation.

In the meantime I would say this is my favourite gin, from just outside Bassenthwaite. Its actually a malt whisky place iI have some kind of founders share in and they send me a bottle each year etc ( the whisky, someone gifted me the gin)

Back inside and commercial example for comparison purposes. Overall, very similar in taste and body. Very happy with the beer I made. The Erding brewery version is a touch brighter. I went with a balanced water profile to accent the malt profile but next time might push the SO4 up a notch. I‘m 90% pilsner malt, 8% Munich II and 2% melanoidin. I think I win on colour and overall flavour. Next batch is already queued up for end of June, will push towards 1:1.5 on the Cl:SO4 next time.
House lager almost locked in!

Just got room left for an American Amber, early start tomorrow so this is my last tonight. Another balanced water brew, and I’ll be sticking with that profile going forward. Toasty malty perfection; 52% MO, 38% Munich, 10% crystal. Columbus to bitter, and Columbus/Amarillo at whirlpool and dry hop. I really like this one.

Nice dry Czech lager from M&S with pilsener malt, hopped with Zatec ( new to me, similar to Saaz I think )
Went down well with a burger :beer1:
