A few bits and bobs finishing with the Kiwi Pale that I bottled on Monday. Unsurprisingly it hasn't finished carbing and is a tad sweet. The price of drunken impatience. On the plus side, it is going to be very good 👍

My dunkels bock 👌

Had an Amundsen Everyday Hero followed by a Wild Beer Co Millionaire salted caramel chocolate milk stout

I enjoyed the Everyday Hero a lot, there was nothing standout about it, it was just a lovely balanced beer.

The Millionaire started off good but I noticed a horrible aftertaste to it half way through and it really put me off.

Going to get absolutely legless tonight, a wake for my Staffie 15 years old, hardest call I have ever had to make. There is absolutely nothing more faithful than a dog, and nothing more heart wrenching when its time to call out. Planted some seeds for a memorial garden for Boofer.
Going to be drinking a few of these Timothy Taylor Bolt Maker clones. Cheers Boof.

Honestly Steve they are amazing.
Quite rare I buy anything. But every time Trillium blow me away. Price wasn't bad either, you have to be on Cloudwaters mailing list to get access to them.
£50 for the lot including delivery.

Im really excited about the Highland Park as I'm hearing great things about them.
JellyKings just insanely good

£50 for 5 beers?

Just had a look at Cloudwater's online shop, there's some amazing stuff there. If I ever get a chance to do another beer tasting with my mates I'm definitely going to place an order.

At the risk of starting another "overpriced beer" debate, those are some world class beers right there and I think for an occasional treat probably well worth it.
Couldn't agree more pal.

Theres loads of trillium sours on that are very rare

Did an experiment a while back, and am drinking them today. I put a bottle of Staropramen in the window sill for a couple days in the sun to see if I could detect light struck or skunkiness. And quite surprising it's remarkably different and the light stuck version is grossly skunked. It's mostly in the aroma but somewhat in flavour too. Note to self, don't use green bottles and don't leave beer in the sun.

No doubt, speaking of £10 per beer I have this little treat that I was about to open up and then I realized I don't have a cork puller....
The main issue I have with dropping that kind of cash is it elevates my expectations too high, so they tend to get judged a bit unfairly. And I tend to find the American breweries a bit over-rated and quite underwhelming, although there are a few that are solid across the board, Surly being one of them. However if we talk about Belgium I have rarely been dissapointed so I spend freely there.

Alright enough about commercial beers and back to homebrews, tasting @samale s dubbel he kindly sent me.

Pours out a reddish brown, hazy and very effervescent. The head lingers the entire glass with about 1cm of foam.
Aroma is light brown sugar, fruity citrus esters apple, orange and lemon, caramel malts and a bit of doughy yeast. Overall aroma is pretty mild
Flavour is light malty and belgian candi sugar, a bit of raisin or dried stone fruit and some coriander. It is very flavourful. Mouthfeel is very light and fades quickly with an earthy back of the tongue bitterness that is creeps up at the end. I am not getting any alcohol.
Overall this is a very drinkable beer, its light on the palate and the alcohol seems on the lower end. It goes down easy and is quite good. I had to reread the bjcp guide for a belgian dubbel as what I tend to reference is Westmalle, Chimay or Westvleteren. It seems like these are on the darker end of the spectrum and your's seems to run true to the bjcp style and a bit lighter. I really like the carbonation level in this. It made it drink light but wasn't overly done that foams up in your mouth. I wonder what a bit darker syrup would add to this, it may give it more complex flavours, not that there is anything wrong with what you have.
Nice job on this one, I enjoyed it!
