Been bottling this morning and preparing a keg - I have beers that will be ready to keg on Thursday, on Friday, and on Tuesday week.

Settling down with a beer now and starting with my Galaxy/Citra ale because unlike me it’s nice and cool! athumb..

It’s time.

American Amber from @dave_77.

Just a non-threatening light psst when I cracked the bottle open. Nice clear toffee coloured ale, medium carbonation giving a nice head when poured with a little height that dissipated but didn’t quite disappear, leaving a ring around the glass that stayed the course.

On the nose, surprisingly malty with toffee and caramel. A little resinous aroma is released when I swirl the glass which I guess is from the Columbus hops. There’s a subtle fruitiness but no big hitting hop aroma.

The flavour is also malty with a buttery toffee note. I’m not sure if there’s a little diacetyl perhaps (no slippery mouthfeel so I’m not convinced). Whatever, it’s nice in this beer. There are several hops in this beer and they are more noticeable in the flavour than they were on the nose with Mosaic and Simcoe more evident than Citra and Columbus I think. The beer doesn’t taste particularly alcoholic despite being 6.4% but you can taste the alcohol, and the body and flavour tells you it’s no lightweight.

The mouthfeel is soft, no astringency. Moderate bitterness but balanced with the malty flavour so you barely notice.

Would make a really nice autumn beer and I can’t help wonder what it might be like with the addition of a little smoked malt.

Thank you Dave!

going local with a lager in the heat it supposedly has cascade, amarillo and nelson in it, but it tastes like earthy to me. wondering if I do not like amarillo?

its like a full time job. I bottled two batches this weekend, two fermenters cleaned and get ready for the saisons! now need to label them.

moving on to another lager, I should be drinking my own but it's hot. this one is pretty good, has a nice creamy smooth for a lager.

A pint of my Landlord Clone, still think it is rather mediocre strangely similar to John Smith Extra Smooth (so I suppose acceptable served iced cold when the weather is as hot as it is).

When I first started to holiday inCyprus, John Smiths was about the only thing you could get apart from the local lager. They were as good/bad as each other but when you’re melting they were both heavenly served cold!

so I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this but I had a Murphy's Irish red ale on tap the other day and was actually super impressed with this beer. creamy caramel malt goodness. so I have been on the hunt for a recipe with little success. I am assuming the nitro makes this one what it is, and was curious about making a stronger red ale or imperial stout on nitro to give it more creaminess. anyone try a nitro tap out?

Last of the mj grapefruit ipa while bottling my cider finally got round to it

After a lovely bike ride with the mrs I've decided to try @matt76 #44 podium ipa.

A satisfying psshhhht on opening and a piney aroma hits you as you pour. I'm going to guess and say theres simcoe in this one. Decent head which lasts half the glass or so, perfectly carved. Colour is sort of amber ish.

It's an ipa for sure, theres a good lot of bitterness but enough sweetness to not make you gurn after drinking it. My one criticism is that I am getting a slight aftertaste, it's not pleasant but not unpleasant either, know what I mean? No I dont either. I'm not sure where it's coming from.

Other than that this is a fine beer and once again, one that I would pay money for. A good beer again mate!
