This Irish hazy IPA which is pretty good. Lots of fruitiness and a nice grapefruity finish.

Next up, a Trappist single from @dave_77 who popped round today. He brought several beers but I must confess to being both excited and just a little scared of the 8% Belgian Dubbel after several beers today - maybe I’ll chance that tomorrow! 😂

The single is “only” 5% so I’m happy to give that a go ;). Hopped with Mittlefrueh and Saaz, this beer is very pale in appearance. Not quite crystal clear when held to the light but not far off. The pour easily produced a nice fluffy white head that dissipated quickly leaving a ring of bubbles round the edge of the glass.

You can smell the malt and the nobel hops, and you can smell the flip-flops of the Trappist monks (I might be taking a liberty here but what I really mean is that everything smells right).

The beer is more carbonated than I expected from the pour. I could feel a fizz on my lips as they touched the beer and could still feel that fizz over my tongue and down my throat.

The bitterness from this beer is mild and clean and the beer is equally clean in flavour. I like it and I’m looking forward to the Dubbel - Probably!
Glad you enjoyedathumb.. looking at some of the beers you have posted today maybe wise to leave the Dubbel for another day😁
 
Trying out some of my experimental Kveik beer today. I think poor transit conditions lead to a plastic off taste from stressed yeast in the initial brew. Luckily I top cropped it early and seem to have got a nice healthy bit of yeast which has made a good starter. I bottled a few bottles from the starter to check for off tastes and today's tasting confirms that they are all gone 👍🏼

After that I accidentally had a bottle of my chocolate rum stout (didn't fancy it but opened the wrong bottle), followed by a bottle of my Chinook, Mosaic, El Dorado pale which has conditioned beautifully. My best pale ale yet.

Haven't had a bitter in a while so it was nice to start the evening with one from @Hazelwood Brewery . Nice clean bitter, malty with medium bitterness with subtle hop flavour.. definitely cask carbonation..no head at all. Tasty beer to start the evening. Nice to put a face to the profile today :smallcheers: View attachment 29485

More likely my crappy bottling skills than keg carbonation! 😂
 
That looks a lovely pint, hope it tastes as good as it looks athumb..
It does mate. Fermented @12c with notty for 2 weeks and then just treated like an ale.
First time I’ve us saaz and I’ll definitely do it again. Put the whole 100g of Saaz in the boil at different times. Was worried it might be a bit too much, but it’s quite a mild taste. Think next time I might add a small dry hop.😋
 
A lovely ESB, its a mystery how beers are at their best when down to the last 4 stubby's.wink...
I initially thought I wouldn't give this one another try, Pilgrim bittering hops EKG aroma and Fermentis SO4 yeast. Generally prefer a drier finish but this beer has got me rethinking.

I’ve done that myself a few times - thought I might not bother again and then found the beer really nice at the end. I think these are the beers that just take longer to condition properly.

I might have to try a bottle myself because looking at that picture I’m starting to wonder if I forgot the priming sugar! This is that same beer straight from the keg this morning.

Hmmm, breakfast bitter! ;)
