I’ve cleaned some kegs and cleaned my beer lines this afternoon and now I’m going to relax with a beer.

I decided on a best bitter from cask. This one has been in the cask just under 7 weeks so probably needs finishing over the next week or two. That’s my green light to brew another beer because it will take that long to ferment. I’ll have to think about what I want to try on cask next 🤔

This is a remarkably good Bordeaux for the price, a nice blend of mostly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Flavour is rich and heavy, with that distinctive taste you get from a wine that has being stored in oak. Look I’m really not very good at describing wines but what I will say is I like this one very much.

A QC of my newest brew.
East Kent Golden ale, named as the basic recipe is the Exmoor one, but the hops are my own grown '24 First Gold.
It's only 14 days old, so obviously not cleared yet.
But the flavour!
Fresh and rich, then golden and rich and long follow on flavour.
Only thing missing is any hoped-for definite hop aroma.

Just one more as up early to head to Liverpool for a gig.

I already have a list of about 28 pubs I want to visit, but if anyone has any more recommendations please let me know.

Vault City Mini M*rs Stout

Chocolate, caramel, sweet. A bit nutty. If you like Pastry Stouts you'll enjoy this or its bigger brother.
