Don't forget our very own Tubbys Cock ale.

I would struggle to get a decent size cod in my MT let alone a whale.

I hope it wasn't a Sperm Whale otherwise that would be a mega salty. :D

How do you know

I'm struggling to recall having read such drivel (outside of chat opening hours of course) in all my born days.

It has been described by Steojar as healthy, because whale meal is low in fat and contains protein.

Both of which would be removed by the boil...

The drink also has no added sugar, the brewery claims.

GA, I take your point about Brewdog Ultrahype but even with their penchant for the utterly ridiculous I can't see them ever using endangered species in their beer.

This is beyond the pale, silly in the extreme, does nothing for craft brewing and is therefore hype for hype's sake.

Though I think Brew Pouch produces good beer, the above could be said for them too, the hype is only for their benefit, any benefit to craft brewing is only secondary.

For me the Brew Pouch hype spoils what are in essence good well crafted beers (apart from the gas but thats another issue).

But that's the point I'm making, their hype IS primarily for their benefit, but it is of a secondary benefit to craft beer as a whole (wider knowledge of craft beer, wider knowledge of the industry practise as a whole, better understanding of all product etc etc). This whale nonsense is solely for the brewery's benefit and has a potentially negative impact on craft brewing as a whole.

Lets not forget, they brew it for a festival in Iceland where they have eaten whale for possibly centuries. There is valid reason in that logic and who's to say it was they who put the worldwide media on it anyway? If brew dog brewed whale it would be a different story.

Of course it was they. Just look at the "editorial". This isn't global revulsion at the frivolous exploitation of an endangered species, it's not "news" it's "advertorial".

Brewdog have their boundaries, brash and showy yes, frivolous and silly sometimes, confrontational certainly but always responsible and always legal.
