think i may need to change this recipe what you lot think on tuesday i started this
3 x 1 1/2 ltr tesco wgj
cant remember how much sugar i put in but ended up with a gravity of 1075
my problem is i think it may be to strong as i have read in these forum pages that 2 ltr of juice is enough,so could i water it down as i have a 5 gallon bucket but how much sugar would i add to that? what you lot think i should do? cheers in advance

I have read using wgj alone doesn't make good wine, might be worth making it up to five litres of wgj and five litres of another juice in the bucket.

I am no expert but assume if you add sugar in the bucket until it gets to 1080 it will be around 12%

thanks for responding chippy tea, iv actually got it in a 2gallon bucket so last night i got a gallon of water and 700grm of sugar boiled and added it this morning,so have diluted it a bit, came home from work and its bubbling a good un :D think when i get bit more time tomorrow if it rains ill get out a 5gallon bucket and make up the rest with water and a couple of ltr of pineapple juice + sugar, hopefully that will save it?

ok so iv changed it recipe is now
4 1/2 ltr white grape juice
4 1/2 ltr cranberry juice
1 1/2 ltr pineapple juice
2500grms sugar
topped up to just over 5 gallons with bottled water
1 tsp super yeast
5 tsp glycerine
5 tsp yeast nutrients
2 tsp wine tanning then i added a cup of hot water with 2 t bags
10 tsp pectolase
3 tsp citric acid
its all looking good and smelling nice and managed to keep the gravity the same 1075
hope it comes out ok as got about £12 in this now :D

Should be nice :thumb: and its still cheap at £12. Less than 50p per bottle

Sounds good, let us know how you get on.

Why did you use 10 teaspoons of pectolace, surely 5 would have been enough.

it said 2 per gallon! on the pectolase container, its still bubbling at the mo,quite vicious to
