I ordered up the ingredients for my 2 entries today and wondered who else is in and what are you brewing for the comp?
I'm entering an Ordinary Bitter & an AIPA, so not expecting any medals, but am hoping to improve on my Personal Best comp score.
I'd be well up for a few bottles swaps with other entries if anyone fancies it??
:smallcheers:

I'm looking at entering 2 as well, my table saison & also a red IPA. Risking it a bit with the red IPA as it's still in the FB but I've brewed the recipe before.

Can I edit my entry after I've paid for it?

Yes you can - not sure if there is a cut off point though.
I'm brewing the 1st of my entries at the weekend, and leaving the AIPA till the very last minute to try and make sure its full on hoppy at judging time.
I think IPA will be a very competitive category.

That's good. Gives me a backup plan at least!

I'm the same as you, no expectation of medals, I just want some unbiased feedback & some confirmation that my process is half decent.

I suspect saison will be a pretty busy category as well as it's definitely a fashionable style at the moment.

Depending on the number of entries and how they group the categories, I'd imagine the red IPA will judged against other types of speciality IPA, and this was the 2nd most competetive category in last year's UK comp with 35 entries.

I'd love to know how many points were needed to win the category, but I'd bet its 40+

I’m entering a Dubbel and a Saison. It’s the first time I’ve ever done a comp and the first one I’ve brewed eithe beer style.

The saison is lovely, I used a lot of cites in it which I love, and it should have mellowed out enough by the comp that it’s not too hoppy for style.

I had another teater if the Dubbel at the weekend and it’s still tasting a little rough. Hopefully it will have improved by judging!

Its still got plenty of time to come good for you hopefully.
I reckon timing a brew right is key for comp entries - I think I may be leaving it a bit late, but last time I entered a comp my APA was critisised for not being hoppy enough so I'm trying to make sure the same won't happen with my AIPA this time (no matter what else the judges may think)

I’m worried about the opposite problem with my saison. It’s been bottled a month so another month should give enough hop fade for it to be just right I think.

Dubbel was bottled in April/May (can’t remember which off hand) with the intention being it’ll be perfectly conditioned for winter.

I've applied, don't think I've paid yet. Over the summer I've been moving home and had some major trouble with work, so I've not been able to brew, and the summer heat has destroyed a lot of my brews. I got a fermentation chamber now and my first beer is almost complete, I tried some and it tasted amazing so will submit that if I get the chance. It's a best bitter, a style I enjoy but isn't my favourite, but keeping a steady fermentation temperature has really pushed this beer to a new level.

I'd really like to, I'm hoping it will be ready in time, I'm gonna check the OG today to see if I can cold crash yet. When are you thinking of judging?

I just checked the gravity and it's stuck on 1.020, was hoping to cold crash today and bottle in a few days, but not sure that's gonna happen. I'll try and get it sent off in time for tasting.

I've entered a coffee vanilla porter. It's the first time I've entered a competition but the second time I've done this brew. It was very popular last time

Cool - the impartial feedback can be very useful
What category does a coffess vanilla stout go into?

It's a porter...so I entered it in 13C English Porter.
Ha.. sorry, I'm meant porter - I've never entered a beer with extra ingredients in a comp so wasn't sure if it'd go in the 'Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer' or a similar speciality category.
