Just finished my forth kit a Morgans Blue Mountain Lager made with 1kg brewing sugar and saflager yeast. At least that was the plan ............... But fate (and shoddy rush diy) decided it was not to be.

Everything was going to plan and for once I had planed ahead I had the yeast re-hydrating, the kit's can warming up in a small insulated picnic box, everything needed sterilized and lined up waiting to go. So as per the instructions added the can to the FV poured 3 litres of boiling water put some more water into the can to get every last drop of goodness out and started topping the FV up with water it wasn't untill I was cracking open the third 5L bottle of water that I notice the puddle that was slowly growing underneath the chair I had the FV :? First thought was oh what an idiot I've not closed the tap

WRONG turns out the tap I've fitted has decided after two other brews its going to start leaking in a big way :(. With an increasing amount to liquid on the floor and being far enough into the process to be comitted to finishing I panicked. The only thing I could think off to do was to grab my clean but unsterillized keg, transfer the wort into it guess how much more water to add, pitch the yeast put the lid loosely on and hope for the best. I guess I'll have to wait a week or so to see if its infected  .

Sorry to hear youve had a bad day :(

Hope it turns out ok :thumb:

Think I read somwhere that the seals on the taps are only good for 3/5 brews.

I ferment in an un taped bucket then transfer to a taped bucket to bottle or keg.

got a little bottler on order and a new bucket just to use for bottling.

If it was previously cleaned and dry, think you should be okay.

Hope its okay for you

Sean
