Although I've been watching the new registrations because I was waiting for somebody, I didn't twig the user name when ‘Bess’ registered. Well let's be honest here, I haven't seen her for some time and I didn't know the dog could type.

Her owner could never be described as a dog, although I thought she was a bit of a dozy b**ch when she hadn't put water in the airlock for the first week. I've now edited the guide to clarify that point. For argument's sake I'm going to call her Kate.

Having been given a few assorted bottles of my juice wines, Kate has been saying for a while that she must have a go at this winemaking malarkey, but I knew she never would unless she was pushed and so I gave her a PET, airlock, funnel etc. and all of the ingredients (apart from a bag of sugar because I'd run out at the time) to make her first Wurzel's Orange. I gave her brief details of how to mix it up and set it going, plus the forum address for the beginner's guide.

A couple of weeks ago I thought her wine had to be ready for racking etc. so I gave her another PET, syphon tube, racking cane, CT, sorbate & finings and told her to read the chuffin' guide for the instructions. Two weekends have been and gone, although in fairness she has had other stuff to do. Having by now lost the forum address, I wrote it down again yesterday. Lo and behold, she's registered, read it and racked.

Good of you to join us at last, welcome to the forum

Bless you moley, that is some proper encouragement. Good work that Man I say. good luck to bess too, Which I shall relay in person when I see her (possibly the only lady on here?)

wish her well from all of us I would have thought!

Then goodo I say, Quite hard to tell with the monikers we all have, you could be forgiven (hopefully) for never guessing.

Say Hi to Bess for us and welcome her to the fold.
She's not the only female on the forum

I'm only aware of one female AG brewer (Wendy) but there have been a few kit brewers and several in the wine & cider areas. Unfortunately, they tend to lurk and seem reluctant to come out into the open very often.

I don't think we've got a Monica though. :wha:

I may regret it in the morning but as she can't interrupt, the phone's not going to ring, workmates aren't earwigging, no reps or customers are going to be walking through and I've had a drink or five it occurs to me that I can write far more here than I could ever say to her face and that this could be an ideal opportunity to tell you all exactly what I think of ‘Bess’, and I don't care if it does earn me a smack in the gob.

I've known Kate, worked alongside her and for her late father for more years than she would probably care to count.

Some people brighten a room just by entering it, others do so when they leave, Kate is most definitely at the head of the first group. It's not just that she looks sensational or dresses nicely but it's more to do with her general demeanour, she carries herself well and exudes a cheery self-confidence with absolutely no hint of pretentiousness or arrogance.

The trouble is, I'm a good several years older. When we first met I was already forging my relationship with the young lady who was to become Mrs. Mole and Kate was a bit of a ditzy teenager, into clubs and stuff that I wasn't. By the time it struck me that she was turning into someone really rather special I was already tied down with a wife and mortgage, then kids. In time Kate met someone, married and later had kids of her own so I've never had a chance. I'm not going to pretend that it doesn't hurt sometimes that I can admire from afar but know I must never touch, but I've had long enough to get used to that.

Even so, I love her dearly, always have and always will, and would do just about anything for her. I make no apologies for that to my wife or Kate's husband, either of whom could be reading this, indeed I hope that he will, just in case he ever needs reminding what a lucky sod he really is, and I don't think I've said anything here which should require him to come round and give me a good thrashing because he's a great bloke too and they make a nice family.

Apart from that, I eat too much, drink too much, smoke too much, snore, belch and fart and there's absolutely no way that Kate would ever put up with me for long. Mrs. Mole has never smoked and doesn't have quite the same gassy problems, but other than that we're pretty well matched.

Now if she reads this, maybe I might get that smack in the gob after all.

Moley  you never never never confess to the love of another man's wife in public, or even worse that you fart and belch etc etc that's for Mrs Moley to know only :) .........putting that aside for a moment is Bess (the dog) a looker ;)

Pretty well written though apart from a few too many “and”s, I can still spell even when inebriated, factually accurate, no hidden agenda, shouldn't contain anything she doesn't already know after 20 years, and I've never laid a finger on her.

Anyway, she's probably lost the forum address again by now.

Locking this and hiding it away until I've had chance to check with her that hubby will see the funny side.

Edit: Unlocked and put back on view, she found it quite flattering and is sure that hubby will have a laugh and take it in the spirit in which it was intended.

I think you should be able to tell by now from quite a lot of my post content that I don't take myself too seriously or require anyone else to. ‘Bess’ certainly knows not to.

I expect that Mrs. Mole will find this in due course, but she should know by now that I quite like her too. ;)

Anyway, I think I'll stop digging now, this hole's quite deep enough.

 Good! I have the same outlook about myself. Sometimes i think people take me more seriously than i do myself, which is worrying.

You can't deny that you are a shambles after your earlier post though!
