I would like to know of your unusual or experimental brews or weird beers that you've seen or tasted..
Something I have wondered about is.., Could you use sugar beet to make a beer with........?
I recently had a few leftover malts which I threw into the grainfather with 3 chopped up pineapples and a few pairs and the final result is surprisingly good..
It might not win any competitions but I really enjoyed it in these warm sunny days..
This is what I did;
300g Vienna
320g Carapils
640g Best Pale
300g Caramel Aroma
1Kg Light Brown Sugar
3x chopped big pineapples with the skin
think about 4 pears chopped with skin on
for hops I did the following;
23g chinook 30min
15g ahtanum 30 min
25g citra 10min
20g styrian celelia 5min
Like I said, I was just having a bit of fun and a clean-out and then I thought I'll cook this up rather than throwing it out..
ABV is only around 3,3%
I have done this brew on the 6th so it's 17 days today. I cleared it with gelatin while cold crashing..
It turned out with a lovely aroma and a kinda grapefruit or orange peel bitterness but not overwhelming.
Think I might play around with the hops if I try it again but overall a good quencher..
