Hi all, Just a quick question, may have a simple answer but I don't have a clue. Right if I make 40% alcohol and I want to water it down to 10% how much water would I say add to 1 litre? Is there an equation for this or does anyone know. Thanks in advance.

How are you going to make 40% alcohol?

Please note discussing distilling is against the forum rules.

Hi, I do make homebrew and also enjoy some vodka with fresh orange, I want to give up the fresh orange and dilute with water hence the question, I know its not directly related to homebrew but was just wondering if anyone had the answer. Many Thanks

Original volume * original percentage / required percentage will give you the new volume.

e.g. for 5 litres of 40% and you want 10%

5 * 40 / 10 = 200 / 10 = 20 litres.
